“Hills Like White Elephants”Is a short story Written by Ernest Hemingway, symbolize the debate of abortion. Hemingway conveys this message cryptically by keeping the actual discussion of abortion out of the short story. Does the girl in the story stay in her relationship with the man? I believe the girl stay with her partner and keeps the baby. The dialogue between the two shows that the woman starts to realize that she doesn't want to abort the baby on page 477 around the end she says "No, it isn't. And once they take it away, you never get it back." Hitting at the fact that she wants to keep the baby. As well the author mentions a beaded curtain multiple times to show its significance of the two beads, which are held together by a thread, symbolize the relationship that a mother has for her child. If you look at page 478, you can see that even at one point the man Starts questioning whether or not that he wants her to keep the baby. You also need to look at the time of year it is in the story; it based in 1920 where abortions were a crime and a sin. Likewise women heavy depended on men to support them. Women didn't get the same opportunities that men had. Women couldn't go to school or were allowed to work, they had to stay home and take care of the children. This is why I think she stay and had the baby.

Here is Lulu Wang's website Write a 50-word introduction that provides the focus of the blog post (two-sentence summary of the story and transition to questions) and a link to the reading. Write a 100-word argument that responds to this question: Did you agree with the family's choice to deceive Wang's grandmother? Write a 100-word narrative that illustrates a response to this question: When have you made an important choice to tell someone a difficult truth or you made an important choice to tell a lie that had a major impact on you and/or someone else? Lulu Wang participated in a podcast, This American Life. "Act One, What You Don't Know", is Lulu Wang's story of attempting to keep the secret of cancer from her grandmother, Nainai. In this podcast, Wang discusses her troubles with keeping such a large secret from her Nainai. Did you agree with the family's choice to deceive Wang's grandmother? I do agree with the family’s choice to keep such a secret from Wang’s grandmother. But also I believe that if her grandmother had already suffered through cancer, she would’ve been able to handle cancer a second time. But isn’t about what I or Nainai believe. It’s about culture and faith. By not telling Nainai grandmother about cancer the family chose to believe in their faith and culture to guide them in a difficult and dark time.

Written by Maya Angelou, “My Name is Margaret” is the story of a young maid, set in 1928. Margaret was one of two servants for Mrs. C, One evening, Mrs. C’s friends were over and started talking about how Margaret's name was too much of an inconvenience to say that her name needed to be shortened, so Mrs.C started calling her Mary. And to fight back, Margaret broke Mrs. C favorite china. Did you agree with Margaret's choice to break the casserole dish and two green glass cups? In my opinion, I do agree with Margaret’s choice to break the casserole dish and the two glass cups. I agree because Mrs. C took away Margaret’s self-worth by calling her Mary, showing that a socially ranked woman like Mrs. C couldn't be bothered to waste an ounce of her time or breath on a girl like Margaret. Reminding her that all she will ever be is another one of Mrs. C slave and she will never be anything more. So by Margaret deciding to break the casserole dish and the two glass cups which represents Mrs. C wealth, and high-class Margaret took back what was hers and remind Mrs. C that it was just as easy to take away her self-worth, As Mrs. C took Margaret by calling her Mary. When have you made an important choice to either resist or not resist oppression, challenge the status quo, or refuse to obey an authority figure? It was my freshman year of high school. This girl Yessenia did everything in her power to make my life a living hell. Constantly made fun of the fact that my mother is a lesbian and how she loved to shoot up more than she loved me. Talking poorly about me in Spanish so the teachers wouldn’t understand what she was saying and so much more to the point where I no longer felt safe. I would avoid going into cert hallways and taking shortcuts to classes so that I wouldn’t run into her. Not only did I go to the Principal and vice principal but all of my teachers were aware of what was going on and never did anything about it but tell that I just need to keep ignoring what she says and eventually she will stop. She never stops until I put a stop to it one day in Mr.Tompson ‘s class, I snapped after she pushed me out of the way so she could get out of class fast. Enough Is enough I had it with her bullshit I pushed her back and told her that all “she will ever be is a big fat bitch” then before I knew it we were fighting. We both got suspended for a week and had to do community service for the state. 2) Writing Process Quote Collage [Categories: Writing Process, Reflection]: Please copy and paste the following bullet points into blog post and complete the following:
